Issue:
Your Chromebook is displaying different letters than the ones you are pressing on the keyboard. This issue is usually caused by an incorrect keyboard layout being selected.
Solution:
The solution is to change the keyboard layout back to English.
Change the Keyboard Layout from the Login Screen:
If you are not logged into your Chromebook, you can change the keyboard layout directly from the login screen:

On the login screen, click on the language icon in the bottom-right corner.

Select US Keyboard or English (US) from the list.

Try entering your password again to check if the issue is resolved.
Steps to Fix the Keyboard Layout from Settings:
If you are already logged in and experiencing this issue, follow these steps:

Open Chromebook Settings

Click on the time in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Select the gear icon to open Settings.

Go to Keyboard Settings

In the Search bar, type "keyboard" and select Language and inputs.

Click on Inputs and keyboards.

Change the Keyboard Layout

Under the Input method section, find the currently selected keyboard layout.

If it is not set to US Keyboard or English (US), click on it.

Choose US Keyboard from the list.

Remove Incorrect Keyboard Layouts (Optional)

If there are other layouts listed, you can remove them by clicking the three-dot menu next to them and selecting Remove.

Test Your Keyboard

Open a text editor or a web browser and type a few sentences to verify that the correct letters appear when you press the keys.

If these steps don't fix the keyboard, submit a help desk ticket. The Chromebook may need to be power-washed.
